Job Objective:
The Sterilization Technician is responsible for cleaning and sterilizing medical instruments and equipment according to approved health standards, ensuring a safe and contamination-free work environment in healthcare facilities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Sterilize medical instruments and equipment using autoclaves and other sterilization devices.
- Clean and prepare surgical instruments following infection control guidelines.
- Inspect tools and equipment to ensure they are in good condition before and after sterilization.
- Store medical tools properly to ensure easy access when needed.
- Follow infection control protocols to maintain a safe environment for patients and healthcare workers.
- Prepare regular reports on sterilization processes and equipment usage.
- Ensure the availability of necessary supplies for sterilization and request materials when needed.
- Engage in continuous training on the latest sterilization techniques to comply with the highest health standards.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Diploma or certified training in medical sterilization or a related field.
- Practical experience in medical sterilization (preferred but not required).
- Good knowledge of using various sterilization devices.
- Ability to adhere to strict health standards.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work within a team and handle work pressure.
Work Environment:
- Work in hospitals, clinics, or medical laboratories.
- May require overtime or night shifts depending on the needs of the healthcare facility.
Note: A certification in infection control or sterilization training is preferred to ensure compliance with required health standards.
