Job Title: Bartender
Job Summary: The Bartender is responsible for preparing and serving a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the bar area. The ideal candidate is friendly, attentive, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drink Preparation:
- Prepare and serve a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including cocktails, beer, wine, and spirits.
- Mix ingredients to create classic and innovative cocktails according to customer preferences or house recipes.
- Garnish drinks with appropriate items such as fruit, olives, or other decorations.
- Customer Service:
- Greet customers promptly and warmly as they arrive at the bar.
- Take beverage orders from customers and waitstaff, ensuring accuracy and speed in delivery.
- Engage with customers, making recommendations based on their preferences, and upsell when appropriate.
- Handle customer complaints or concerns with professionalism and courtesy.
- Cash Handling:
- Accurately process cash, credit, and debit card transactions using the point of sale (POS) system.
- Maintain a balanced cash drawer and ensure that all financial transactions are conducted correctly.
- Bar Maintenance:
- Keep the bar area clean and organized, including wiping down surfaces, washing glassware, and restocking supplies.
- Monitor inventory levels of beverages, mixers, and other supplies, and communicate with management for reordering.
- Follow proper sanitation and safety procedures, including proper disposal of waste and recycling.
- Compliance:
- Check customers' identification to verify age requirements for the purchase of alcohol.
- Adhere to all local and state regulations regarding the sale and consumption of alcohol.
- Promote responsible drinking and manage situations involving intoxicated customers with discretion.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with other bar staff, servers, and kitchen staff to ensure a smooth operation.
- Assist in the training of new bartenders or barbacks as needed.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for long periods.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Manual dexterity for pouring, shaking, stirring, and garnishing drinks.
Work Environment:
- Typically works in a bar or restaurant setting with high noise levels and frequent customer interaction.
