Duties and Responsibilities:
- Abides by the Medical Staff Bylaws, Code of Medical Ethics, Rules and Regulations of the Medical Staff and those specific to the Department.
- Responsible for the provision and maintenance of an efficient consultative, diagnostic and advisory service in Microbiology & Immunology.
- Responsible for documented staff orientation, training and continuous Medical Education in Microbiology and Serology Section.
- Design the internal quality activities in both Microbiology and Serology including the timed (daily, weekly, monthly) activity, audit and surveillance and practice.
- Share in the preparation of hospital infection control strategy, activity, and practice.
- Participate in the designation of antibiotic usage practice in the hospital to maintain the ideal antibiotic utilization.
- Provides advice to the Director of Medical Laboratory concerning trends and new developments in the field of Microbiology & Immunology.
- Participates in the management of physical and manpower resources of Microbiology & Immunology to maximum efficiency and effectiveness.
- Participates in the on-call duties as required by the Department.
- Participates in the improvement of quality of patient care (Continuous Quality Improvement & Patient Safety Programme, Quality Assessment Improvement Programme) as applicable.
- Fulfils the requirements of the Saudi Council for Health Specialties with regards to continuing Medical Education.
- Participates in and/or actively supports approved research projects.
- Deputises for his superior as required and shares workload in his specialty during the absence of his Colleagues.
- Serves on Hospital Committees as requested.
- Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities, within the hospital and / or affiliated Medical Facilities.
